Baked Kale Chips

“These are a low calorie nutritious snack. Like potato chips, you cannot stop at just eating one. They are great for gathering with friends and a good conversation topic.”

Baked Kale Chips Recipe

Ingredients (Original recipe makes 6 servings)

  • One Bunch Kale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Directions

  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner (or with paper towel or clean clothe).
  3. Place kale onto paper and drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
  4. Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

There are many renditions to this recipe:

**If you wanting a bit more ‘yum’ to it, feel free to shred some cheddar cheese over it**

This is one of our counsellor’s favorite snacks!! Nicole thinks it tastes better than potato chips and is healthier too (well, without the cheeeeeezzzz)!! ENJOY!

  1. <i love Kale chips too! The food in Guatemala is so good – lots of black beans and thick, tasty tortillas and guacamole with grilled chicken or fish, but <i do miss having more green vegetables and salads!

  2. I make my kale chips with tahini….mix it with some hot water so it spreads around on the kale a bit easier…YUMMMM.
